Dir to text file: dir *.* /s /b > files.txt
Save all files under the folder and all of its sub files to a text file, this switches can also be changed to your liking:
dir *.* /s /b > files.txt
done.
dir *.* /s /b > files.txt
done.
XCOPY/ Z
XCOPY /z
snipit from http://www.microsoft.com/resources [...] xcopy.mspx
If you lose your connection during the copy phase (for example, if the server going offline severs the connection), it resumes after you reestablish the connection. /z also displays the percentage of the copy operation completed for each file.
(Don't believe the percentage works, tried it.)

No more AMD motherboards that support Nvidia SLI cards?
Why can't I find any new AMD motherboards that support Nvidia SLI cards?
Is Nvidia exclusively Intel now? Has AMD said forget it no more?
Consumer (me) losers. I got AMD 6400+ and a 8800 GTX and trying to track down a new SLI motherboard so I can setup my old 8800 GTX in SLI. (I would buy a second hand old motherboard, but I done this three times already, and basically the GA-59 and 55 basically just didn't work or worked for a while had basically stopped working, and the same for Asus M2N32.) So gimme a newer motherboard.
Maybe this is old news and I'm none the wiser.

access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: no)
on ubuntu after mysql install (sudo apt-get install mysql-server)
to enter/change password use:
mysqladmin -u root -p password yourpassword
(yourpassword <- goes here)
I've read other places you don't need the -p but on ubuntu you do!
see ya

sudo passwd root - ubuntu- how to waste my time
let me start by saying, i've never used linux before. so how the f##k would i know how to install software on it.
i do have plenty of windows experience, been working in and around it for 10+ years. am a pc gamer, like to build my own pcs, like to dabble in new stuff when i have time.
which leads me to thinking, i really would like to try out the bugzilla open source tracking software. so hey i'll install linux in vmware, and do it. (i know there are windows versions) but i wanted it to be in linux so i could potientally give it to the really it guys to put it on our live servers.
so off i went, first trying to install openSUSE, which took ages, because i wasn't smart enough to choose ide disk instead of scsi (linux doesn't like scis on vmware 5.5, use ide disk instead) straight away. then oh i need apache web server. then trying to install apache, what a pain. i tried installing different linux dist. and finally when with ubuntu. so i installed ok, installed xampp instead, installs ok, then i try and start it "/opt/lampp/lampp start". f##k nothing. oh gotta get to the root. "su" 'passwd:' what, what password, i never set a password for su during the installation. i put my name in and a password. ok, i'll try that password. ********** 'su" authentication failure', ok i'll try no password. 'su" authentication failure' try password 'su" authentication failure' maybe i spelt my password wrong 'su" authentication failure' maybe the caps was on 'su" authentication failure' f##k this shit. google, searching................. ........ ...... ... ... .. f##k this ..... . .. . .. . . .. . ... ....... .. . ok ubuntu documentatino search..... su default password... nothing. f##ken f##k f##k f##k. ok RootSudo. Ahhh root acount password is locked in Ubuntu. ahhh 'sudo password root' change password. done.
what i f##ken un-user-friendly documentation. f##ken f##k heads those f##ken it guys, why don't you write f##ken documentation from the non it perspective. ah f##k im a it guy. sh#t i do the same thing.
lesson learned. not only to be f##cken persistance. but lets be kind, to those nubies entering unknown situations. lets write documentation from a non it perspective and orgnaise it correctly. god i'll be doing this from now on for my users.
next time ubuntu documentation, put the f##ken sudo passwd root in the install instructions chapter up front.
ps sorry about the swearing.

can't get to the root in ubuntu, do this: at terminal enter (without quotes) "sudo passwd root" and change the password, now you can get to "su". thanks me.
